PyZDDE

Unmaintained

A Python extension for controlling Zemax OpticStudio through the legacy DDE interface.

PyZDDE is an independent, third-party open-source project of which the MReye had become the active maintainer. As support for the DDE interface has been stopped by OpticStudio this package is no longer maintained. If you want to automate OpticStudio, use ZOSPy instead.

About

PyZDDE is a Python extension that communicates with Zemax OpticStudio through the Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) interface, allowing optical design tasks and analyses to be scripted from Python and used in reproducible workflows; while the project is no longer actively maintained, it remains a useful legacy bridge for DDE-based automation in setups that still rely on this interface. Its successor for OpticStudio automation is ZOSPy.
