Ocular Cone-Beam CT scanner installed

A modified cone-beam CT scanner has been installed at our department. This scanner is a unique adaptation of a dental CBCT system designed to scan the eyes and orbit. This innovation marks the start of an exciting collaboration between Radiology, Radiotherapy, Medical Physics and Ophthalmology, together with Trident and Medcom, to optimise the scanner for high-precision ocular imaging. The goal is to improve treatment planning for ocular proton therapy, offering more accurate care for patients with uveal melanoma. This joint effort exemplifies how multidisciplinary teamwork drives technological progress for better patient outcomes.
